Eagles pull off trade to acquire receiver with ties to Sean Mannion originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia
The Eagles have acquired receiver Dontayvion Wicks in a trade with the Green Bay Packers, a league source confirmed to NBC Sports Philadelphia on Friday afternoon.
In the trade, the Eagles are giving up a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick to the Packers. The Eagles are also signing Wicks to a one-year extension, which means Wicks is under contract through the 2027 season.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who broke the news, the one-year extension is worth $12.5 million.
Coming from the Packers, Wicks has a lot of familiarity with new Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, who coached the last two seasons under Matt LaFleur in Green Bay. Wicks also played under Eagles new run game coordinator and tight ends coach Ryan Mahaffey, who had been the Packers’ WRs coach the last two seasons.
Wicks, 24, was a fifth-round pick back in the 2023 draft out of Virginia and has spent the first three years of his career with the Packers. He has a total of 108 catches for 1,328 yards (12.3) and 11 touchdowns.
Wicks’ most productive season came as a rookie in 2023, when he had 39 catches for 581 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Wicks (6-1, 206) has been a part-time player with solid production during his time in the NFL. He has played no more than 54% of the Packers’ offensive snaps in any of his three seasons in the NFL. Wicks has played both outside and in the slot during his NFL career and has been a solid blocker. It’s worth noting Wicks has played just three special teams snaps in his career.
Wicks is the third veteran receiver the Eagles have added this offseason. They previously signed Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore to one-year deals.
Obviously, the biggest question around the Eagles’ receiving corps is about the future of A.J. Brown. While Brown is still on the roster as of early April, it still seems possible he could be traded at some point later this offseason or even in the summer. Either way, the Eagles did lost third receiver Jahan Dotson in free agency and this is a position they value.
Adding guys like Brown and Wicks give the Eagles options to be either the 2 and 3 behind DeVonta Smith or the 3 and 4 behind Brown and Smith.
